BOOK CATALOGUES
Alphabetical catalogue-
owing to differences in alphabets storage of books acquired and stored in the library's alphabetical (institutions) catalogue is in three series:
1.Catalogue of books in Bulgarian;
2.Catalogue of books in other languages written in Cyrillic Russian, Ukraininan, Byelorussian, Serbian etc.);
3.Catalogue of books in the Latin alphabet.
The catalogue of books in the Latin alphabet is in two series: Books acquired by the Library until 1977 and books acquired after 1978.
This division is purely formal. It became necessary when work began on the preparation of a printed catalogue.
The catalogue of books in the Latin alphabet includes catalogue descriptions of books in all languages using the Latin alphabet (Original works and translations)
Systematic catalogue
The Systematic catalogue reveals the contents of the library collections through a systematic arrangement of catalogue descriptions based on a classification adopted by the library.
The systematic catalogue at the St.St.Cyril and Methodius Nat. Library is in three series, due to changes in the classification schemes in 1960 and 1993. In each section of knowledge index cards are arranged first in Cyrillic, then in Latin, in a general alphabetical order , with no division according to languages.
Subject catalogue
The subject catalogue reveals the contents of the library collections by pointing to literature on concrete questions and subjects, arranged alphabetically. Fiction, textbooks up to the 8th class and almanachs are not presented.

1. Periodical editions in Bulgarian;
2. In Cyrillic (non-Bulgarian);
3. In Latin script;
4. Russian periodical collections;
5. Of separate sheets.
