His Excellency Yanko Yordanov, Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, visited St. St. Cyril and Methodius National Library and discussed with Assoc. Prof. Krassimira Aleksandrova, Director of St. St. Cyril and Methodius National Library, the possibilities for future cooperation with the National Libraries of Nigeria, Ghana and Guinea-Bissau.
On behalf of the National Library Board, His Excellency Yanko Yordanov donated various books and inaugurated a Nigerian Corner, dedicated to the National Library of the largest country in Africa. The newly opened corner could be visited in the Book History Hall of St. St. Cyril and Methodius National Library from Monday to Friday from 9am to 4:30pm.
“I express my gratitude to His Excellency Yanko Yordanov for embracing the idea of developing our international cooperation with 19 countries in Africa which will undoubtedly further our cultural exchange. I really believe that today’s opening is the beginning of a future, more fruitful cooperation between St. St. Cyril and Methodius National Library and the National Libraries of the African continent” said Assoc. Prof. Krassimira Aleksandrova.
“Nigeria is a huge and majestic country that has a lot to offer in terms of possibilities and friendship as well as challenges that are common to humanity. The cooperation between the National Libraries of Nigeria and the National Library of Bulgaria is a huge and logical step towards strengthening the relations between the two countries which already have a tradition of almost 58 years of respect, mutual interest and friendship” said His Excellency Yanko Yordanov.
Assoc. Prof. Krassimira Aleksandrova donated to the Bulgarian community in Nigeria numerous books written by Bulgarian contemporary authors.
