The Electronic Catalogue of the National Library contains over 820 000 bibliographical records (March 2011) of the following kinds of documents:

    • monographs: books, dissertations, maps and graphic documents, video records and scores
      • Bulgarian documents – from 1876 to present (for the documents, acquired in 2007, use the old library’s catalogue: electronic catalogue ISIS)
      • documents in other languages, acquired in the National Library – from 1992 to present
    • periodicals – newspapers, journals and bulletins from 1992 to present
    • articles from newspapers and journals from 1992 to present

People could search in the Electronic Catalogue in three different ways:

      1. Basic search by keyword and option for restricting the search by language and/or type of the documents (use the mark * for terms’ crossing).
      2. Advanced search by 27 elements and option for restricting the search by language and/or type of the documents (use the mark * for terms’ crossing).
      3. Expert search by all the elements, indexed with prefixes and suffixes, using the logical operators (AND, OR, NOT) and context operators (WITH, NEAR, SUBFIELD). The search could be restricted by the type of the document.
