On the 26th May at 14.00 h. in an official ceremony with the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Culture was presented the new director of the St. St. Cyril and Methodius National Library – Assoc. Prof. Krasimira Aleksandrova.

The former director Prof. Boryana Hristova received by Mr. Stoyan Stoyanov, Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, a plaquette and an honorary diploma for her achievements in the field of the Bulgarian culture and literary heritage.

Assoc. Prof. Krasimira Aleksandrova won the competition for the post of director of the National Library in May 2016. She has worked more than 25 years as a librarian. From 1980 to 1998 she was Chef Librarian of the library of the “Konstantin Preslavsky University of Shumen” and from 2004 to 2013 – Director of the “Stiliyan Chilingirov Regional Library” in Shumen.

Krasimira Aleksandrova is also a university lecturer, head of a Laboratory on Librarian Technologies, Communications and Information – LibLab.
Her scientific interests are in the field of the librarianship and preservation of the literary heritage. She has studies in the field of the national and foreign bibliography, as well as in the digitalisation of the library collections.
